Today is the day Bridgerton fans have been waiting for, as the trailer for the highly-anticipated third season of the Netflix period drama has finally arrived.
While eagerly awaiting the trailer's release, fans were given a snippet of what to expect in the form of a short clip, which was posted to the official Bridgerton X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday.
In the video, which has already been seen by more than a million people, the characters one by one take a peek at Lady Whistledown's latest newsletter - a gossip-filled column that reports on the inner workings of high society.
But, the thing viewers were most interested in wasn't their silent reactions and facial expressions - it was their costumes.
Bridgerton is known for the colourful and outlandish regency attire worn by the characters, although some have complained it's not always historically accurate.

When the show first aired in 2021, smitten viewers began posting videos of themselves in homemade costumes inspired by the early 1800s on TikTok, and a regency era-fashion trend was sparked.
At the time, there was an increase in demand for corsets, pearl and feather headbands, and long gloves - but after getting a glimpse of what this season's characters will be wearing, fans aren't as impressed with the style choices.
From a frilly pink frock to the biggest wig you've ever seen, the clothing and accessories are as outlandish as ever.
Taking to X, one disappointed viewer wrote: 'So what did the budget go to because it certainly wasn’t wardrobe.'
Another questioned: 'Genuinely what has happened to this show’s costume department I’m so curious?'
A third penned: 'Even for a modernised period drama this hair, makeup and costumes are atrocious I can't breathe.'
Meanwhile, a fourth chimed in with: 'I did a fashion history course last year and as a long lover of period stuff and history these costumes actually make me want to violently throw up, lord help me.'
'I fear these costumes are hideous, even for Bridgerton,' and 'I hate the Bridgerton costumes tbh. I said what I said,' added others.

Another unhappy fan remarked: 'I’ll say it with my chest but the Bridgerton season three costumes are so ugly.'
'I know Bridgerton isn’t supposed to be historically accurate but these costumes look too over the top and everyone is wearing too much makeup,' quipped someone else.
One viewer clarified: 'We're not complaining that the Bridgerton makeup and costumes are inaccurate. We knew that getting in. We're complaining that they're ugly.'
However, plenty of fans rushed to the defence of the eccentric outfits on social media.
Someone argued: 'People in the quote retweets raging about the costumes but I've never considered Bridgerton as an accurate period piece what are y'all yapping about?'
Another said: 'Bridgerton has never had historically accurate costumes from hair all the way down to corsets and y’all saying otherwise are making yourselves look real silly right now.'
Others who disagreed wrote: 'Stunning. The costume and makeup team of Bridgerton need all the awards' and 'I feel like people would find Bridgerton easier to digest in terms of costume if they just took it as what it is… fun'.
'I think I’m the only one who really likes the new Bridgerton costumes,' admitted another.
Someone else added: 'Why y’all clocking the costume and hair? They look good. We beg for more colorful, fun, and original styles and Bridgerton delivers! I love them.'

The debate comes as Nicola Coughlan, who plays this season's star Penelope Featherington, has revealed that the drama is set to be saucier than ever as she blushed over the show's racy scenes.
The next installment of the hit show will focus on Nicola's character and her romance with Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton.
While chatting to Cat Deeley and Ben Shepard on This Morning last month, Nicola said her raunchy sex scenes in the bonkbuster felt very awkward to begin with.
But because she has now known her on-screen lover for four years, she revealed that they eventually became comical for her.
Dressed in a stunning grey suit and white vest, the Derry Girls star said: 'I think we've won the sauciness for this series!'
To which Ben responded: 'So you have been having your fair share of steamy sex scenes in this one?'
Nicola laughed and said 'yes' before Ben quizzed her on how she gets around having sex on screen.
She responded: 'It is really nerve-wracking, but thankfully, I've known Luke for four years, and he is a super nice guy.'
Bridgerton Season 3 will be released on Netflix in two parts: The first will launch on May 16 2024 and the second will launch just under a month later on June 13 2024.
